- The UART can be upgraded trivially. In practice, few 386's and no 286's I know
- of had the I/O on the motherboard. Therefore, a $25 I/O card will give you
- modern comm ports and bidirectional parallel port - including an EIDE
- controller for a couple of bucks more.
